RYA Cruising Instructors Course

Course Overview

If you are passionate about sailing and have always dreamed of making it your career then the RYA Cruising Instructors Course is your first step in teaching. An effective instructor must have credibility with students and must show a genuine interest and engagement. Once you have passed this 5 day RYA course you will be able to teach within the practical cruising scheme, as a qualified RYA Cruising Instructor, leading student groups in Start Yachting, Competent Crew and Day Skipper.

The course is a blend of assessing the candidate’s knowledge, providing a structured framework to instruct, coach and deliver constructive feedback, and ensure the structure and standards required of RYA courses are understood. This course is taught by senior instructors, who have many years of experience teaching all levels of students from absolute beginners to Yachtmasters. During the Cruising Instructor course you will take part in role-play situations where you will find out how it feels to be both the instructor and the student.

You must already hold your RYA Yachtmaster™ Offshore certificate and have an understanding of how people like to learn.

Any candidates booking on to an RYA Cruising Instructor course will be required to complete the RYA Cruising Instructor pre-course knowledge interactive online course before attending this five day practical.
